I just walked around outside around our property and the neighbors with my maglight, he should stick out like a sore thumb, don't see him anywhere. Big field behind me. He's a ghost... See if he shows up tomorrow, same thing when I first had him escape, couldn't find him, figured he got ate, and there he was the next day. Maybe I'm keeping the wrong rooster, this one seems predator proof.

I let God cull ours. We have fast chickens

I've always been able to catch my chickens, or convince them to go in the coop. I was thinking God wants me to keep this one. They say giants got big cause the late growing ones surpass the big ones, why they got so big, they sold the bigger ones for meat earlier, and then the smaller lankier ones got huge, slow growth, frame first meat later.. Process of elimination that benefited the giants. I thought about keeping him just in case it's true, they are huge now so I don't know at what point this is the case. Why I was going to put him in the big coop. See what happens, we have many predators, why I no longer free range. I haven't lost one in a couple yrs except from hawks, the fox that were all over seem to have disappeared, maybe they all got rabies? Fisher, bobcat, coons, coyotes I hear every night, opossum, skunk, weasel, bear, all very close... If I don't see him tomorrow, well then God culled him and if I wanted to eat him guess I should've been a little faster... Lol!!!

Yikes beer can, wild pigs?! Crazy.
Go for the heirloom sweet potatoes, supposedly heirlooms are more nutritious.

The big chicks some how knocked down their gate and a bunch were on the floor (again). Put them back, did a head count, 11. Now I can't remember if I had 11 or 12. Why can I not count chickens? Nor remember how many I have?
Any way looking for the missing chick that I'm not sure exists I see two of my young scovy in the duck nesting box, and the big drake waddled over to gard them so that's cool. We'll see if they laid anything latter. @Alaskan when do your scovy usually start brooding? I don't want to let them if the ducklings are just going to freeze. It's still pretty cold over night here.

Feral hogs are in NY but I haven't heard of anyone seeing them in our area. They were open season on them, last yr DEC banned hunting them cause supposedly it isn't helping and making them smarter. They are attempting trapping and using helicopters. I called the DEC, they said I can shoot it if it is damaging my property or harming livestock, just no going out and hunting them. I put my trail cam by the coop. If it comes around again I'm prepared and will be a little quicker.
I see it rolled a old round bale that was near my coop across the field . Never thought I'd have to worry about a freaking pig.
