Dixie Chicks

Hey, haven't been here in a while!

Ducks are settling in after the move, but not a single egg yet. I need to hatch!!! Ha-ha

Chickens started a few weeks ago and then gave up again. So I pulled the eggs out of the fridge and started to incubate those. The shells are too thick and dark so I can't even tell if they are developing. Ugh

I nees to incubate more... Haha
hatch all the eggs! wow makes me tired just thinking about the intial move in again :)

How is your new piece of paradise? Building projects??

We missed you!!

Oh yeah, lots. Duck house is 50% complete. It has a tarp roof for the moment. Ha-ha

They do have a large run for the moment but will be getting a second and or third to try and rotate them throughout the year.

Missed you guys too!

All your gardening stuff makes me tired, ha-ha and I have a large garden waiting to get worked on too. Wanna come over?;)

Just saw a ad on our craigslist, someone has more than a dozen khaki cambell, selling fertile even, dozen eggs for $2!! If my chickens were not crapping out tons, I'd buy them!! Made some more pickled eggs yesterday. Tried natural food coloring, boiled some red cabbage, strained, added just a pinch of baking soda, turned blue just like they said, knew there might be problems adding it to vinegar salt brine, yup, some bubbles, and turned color back....dumped it, would work good for frosting etc. Used what was left of red/purple cabbage juice, way darker than beet juice pickled eggs. Made some plain, some onion and garlic, some doubled up on habenero, four orange inferno ones scotch bonnets? Made some with cayenne pepper powder, our xtra fridge has a few gallons of qts pickled eggs in it now. If you plan on boiling eggs, DON'T store them flat, put them in a carton, I had many 2-3lb? plastic coffee containers full of eggs in the fridge...yolks settle on one side, right next to edge of egg...don't think that happens in a carton.

'Too stubborn to give in'...Lol! I gave up a couple yrs ago, rolled and seeded garden for grass/lawn, too much work. Changed my mind last yr had some garden, just tilled up a 60'x75' area this weekend, and a area down by pond...let the madness begin!!
