I still have my trio.... They have just been in with the crowd so I would have to segregate them for a month to get pure eggs, and anywaytotally wrong time of year. I think I have 2 grow-out females left.
So, I will be fine, just the people that I had promissed grow-outs to obviously aren't getting any...and
I am getting no money. Also, I do not get to select the best ones to keep... But my trio is pretty good quality, they haven't thrown any impressive duds, so again, should be just fine.
Question for you though... I did get a free blue Am cockerel this spring because it had a "female" single row comb. Do I care? Do you have the copy of the SOP, how big of a fault is that? (Disqualification or point reduction) I like the guy's comb, nice and small, and I like small combs. I am trying to decide how much I want to use him next spring.
Also, supposedly each light colored toenail is a single point off. I don't think I have a single bird with all nails being dark. Do you?

No leakage at all, and yes, I love his body shape.
I think he looks pretty swell. I don't want to get rid of the black rooster I used this year (from pips and peeps), and I have no idea where this guy came from...but I know that some of his hatchmates had the wrong color legs. Now I can't remember if that is recessive or not (and if he could be hiding those bad genes). All of my current legs look great, except for those silly toenails, that I have decided to ignore anyway...I have more important things to cull for.

Here is a close up of the back end of the blue Am roo. I actually see zero lacing.
The black girl with the knock knees looking right at the camera is an Am X Dominique. I love her face.

Today one of my Buff Orpington pullets got stuck between 2 rabbit cages. This is the 2nd time she has done that. When I found her she couldn't even walk. She would stand up and fall over to the side. Poor dear. I put her in an isolation cage to rest up & get well. In the meantime, I think the problem is that she is at the bottom of the pecking order & the other ones chase her, & she is stupid enough to keep getting stuck. Bird brains.
Thanks for the input, I find it greatly helpful.![]()
