Dixie Chicks

Wait a minute, I see green grass! I am west of the Blue Ridge Parkway and we have lake where our meadow used to be. What is worse? All this rain with mud slides or snow and ice?

I really, really hate the cold, but I'd gladly give up a little warmth for this rain to stop. Even my pens that normally stay very dry are leaching the water from the sopping, saturated ground around them. :(

We get rain trying to drown us, then freezes into a downhill skating rink... thaws to turn into mudslide, rinse and repeat... :barnie

This is what is happening to the pens... I am in the lower pen looking up into the main Am pen... used to be a few inches clearance below said fence where the littles would go back and forth between...

I have the same problem!!! The smaller fencing on the inside of a chain link run holds the mud in and doesn't allow it to run down over the hill side which in turn makes it into a Puddle of Muck!

Yup... the Bog of Eternal Stench... :sick

And the high end of the pen loses 6" of height while the lower end gains 6" of sludge...

Several days recently, I have clung to chainlink fence to keep from slipping downhill. The goats are fine but the chickens runs were really wet.
