They both have beards so can't be cochin. I was thinking a D'Uccle.

They've certainly got a major heart melt factor going on, don't they? And Dixie!! Oh how I want that little Dixie Momma Girl!!!

She's just the sweetest little thing, sitting there so contented with her (not so) little brood.

So, when will they get to start their outdoor adventures? Maybe in about a week? Being in Florida, I would imagine that cold nights aren't nearly the concern at this time of year that they are for us up here in the Inland Northwest. We've still got freezing in the night.

Gosh Maxx! They're all such a great looking bunch of chicks! You should be proud of Dixie Momma and proud of yourself! You've done a fantastic job of taking care of her, so that she can take care of her chicks!

I have some bad news. I was letting out the chicks and Dixie to go out for their first foraging trip. Well it went terribly wrong. I went to put the chicks in a small box to carry them out back and then Dixie jumped on my back and got me distracted and all the chicks started to scatter all over the garage. Well I got 10 of them fine and then I saw one in between 2 boxes so I went to the other side of the garage to move the boxes and I guess when I moved it I accidently put it on top of the chick.

I didn't realize that I did and so I kept moving the boxes out of the way until I saw a dead chick and squished face on the ground.

I feel like a terrible daddy because I killed the chick.

Also on top of that I can't find the other chick that went missing. Btw the chick I accidently killed was from Dixie's egg. I think the missing chick is dead because there is no chirping in the garage except for the chicks with Dixie. Last but not least I see that one of my EE chicks is forming a deformed beak. I have messed up so far today. So lets just say that my day has not been great so far......

Hey M
Sorry to hear about the little ones. Don't be hard on yourself, it was just an accident. Things happen especially when you have a herd of little chicks.
As for the crooked beak one, watch it. Is it crooked or crossed? Many times if it is just a bit crooked you can take a nail file and file it down so it matches better. If it is crossed, try to give it some extra vitamins. If it is a vitamin deficiency then it should correct itself.
How is baseball going?
What does your schedule look like? Have to put in the reservation for Raymond James Stadium to hold your swap in. LOL
