DIY brooder lamp holder

My husband built this for my baby chicks. It took him about 20-30 min to build it. (most of that time was spent trying to open the PVC cement container).

It is designed to put outside the brooder and hang over. The chain can be lowered or raised to control the temp.

The bulb, reflector/bulb holder/cage, etc. was bought at Tractor Supply.

I have a couple questions about your brooder light stand if your willing to share. What size of pipe did you use? Did you have to weight the base down? I would also be interested to know in more detail how the chain is attached.
