DIY Kitten stuff??

In my opinion a scratching post no matter how good or how many will not prevent them from scratching your furniture. Cat scratcher furniture because you know they don’t want you to. That’s how they roll. LOL I recently saw something pretty awesome it was how to make a cat tower all DIY. I think what they used cost probably less than $15 and it was a good size cat towers and they usually cost over hundred dollars. But my cats love the cat towers. There’s things for them to crawl inside And they can scratch the sides like a scratching post and you can even hang things from them for them to swat around

My cats only scratch the furniture if they want my attention for something. If they want us to get out of bed first they will try a few scratches on the bedroom chair, and if that doesn't work they will scratch the corner of the mattress by my feet. They scratch the chair by the front door when they are begging to go outside. Grr...

It doesn’t look pretty but I actually took thick cardboard and attached it to the corners of my furniture where the cat scratches. Once it wears out I just replace it. Like I said it doesn’t look pretty but cardboard is cheap or free and it saves my furniture. Or using a spray bottle is a great way to train a cat not to do something. That’s how my cat learned I’m not cool with her getting on my kitchen counters. Now when she goes to jump All I do is touch the spray bottle and she walks away

Trust me I was pretty mad before I learned about the cardboard thing because my cat decided her new favorite scratching post was the antique potato box I inherited from my grandmother. Don’t know if I had ever been so mad at my cat

If money is an issue, you can get away with spending $0 on a cat beyond food and litter. They are just like kids. People bankrupt themselves buying them stuff they don't need, or even want.

Can't say it better than this ;) We have 4 cats that live inside, and we have bought them dozens of toys. And they were all completely ignored. Our cats prefer to play with old milk jug lids and green beans

Oh, believe me, my cats know they aren't supposed to scratch the furniture. One will pause mid-scratch to make sure I notice her, staring me down. If I don't look, she will try to scratch again (to get my attention), if I look, she runs away. Running from the spray bottle is a great game to them. They mock me I swear. Just like my dog who will get in the front seat of the car when I get out to go in the store, and then if she sees me coming across the parking lot she will hop in the back again. She knows she isn't supposed to be in front, but does it anyway if she thinks I won't catch her. These pets of ours are not dumb ;)

My cat was going nuts the other night, I went to make sure he wasn't being naughty, he had a small rock on the tile floor that fell out of a boot or something. It was the best game ever for him for like an hour. Cats turn everything into a toy except their purchased toys.
