Love it! Inexpensive, functional, repurposing materials, and it looks great! Good job!!

A moron's trash is a chickener's treasure
I saw similar posts this afternoon at Home Depot...$99.00 EACH!Thank you to all of you. I have two posts left, so I'm thinking about what to build with them. It may be a potting shed and use the posts to hold the porch. Since I've had chickens I have never looked at roadside trash the same. Lol

I'm beaming for you!! I was on my way to the insulation...again... trying to warm the coop... and happened to see those& was so eggcited for your great find and wonderful usage!Omgoodness!!! I got 6 of those posts for free. That's over $600 value. with tax. Those posts are solid and very heavy. I also got the plywood for free and like I mentioned, the shingles for $12. Thanks for letting me know about the value of the posts. I'm just beaming right now.
I do something similar with a bird suet cage and a garden shepard's hook. This is my second model of "cabbage swing" to occupy penned up chickens. The chain was too short on the first one, but the concept worked very well. I found a length of chain that was long enough, drilled a 3/8" tunnel through the cabbage core, fashioned a "needle" with coat hanger wire, and threaded the chain through the cabbage. I hang it from a rafter in the run.![]()
