DIY Thread - Let's see your "Inventions".

I saw similar posts this afternoon at Home Depot...$99.00 EACH!

Omgoodness!!! I got 6 of those posts for free. That's over $600 value. with tax. Those posts are solid and very heavy. I also got the plywood for free and like I mentioned, the shingles for $12. Thanks for letting me know about the value of the posts. I'm just beaming right now.

I'm beaming for you!! I was on my way to the insulation...again... trying to warm the coop... and happened to see those& was so eggcited for your great find and wonderful usage!

This is my second model of "cabbage swing" to occupy penned up chickens. The chain was too short on the first one, but the concept worked very well. I found a length of chain that was long enough, drilled a 3/8" tunnel through the cabbage core, fashioned a "needle" with coat hanger wire, and threaded the chain through the cabbage. I hang it from a rafter in the run.

I do something similar with a bird suet cage and a garden shepard's hook.

I use the large suet cages too. Have 4 of them about the coop and run.

But I have a question on the cabbage. Do they eat it well? I've never tried cabbage but mainly because I didn't think they would eat it.
