I would love to hear everyone’s experiences with DNA testing, including various companies, pricing, etc. I intend to send off egg shells on hatching day. I have Silkies, so y’all feel my pain. 6/8 of my first flock ended up male. I kept two cockerels and my only two pullets. These are the Fabulous Four that I kept. ❤️

We used IQ bird testing. I think it was $14 per bird for feather sexing.
We were very happy with the company and turn around time.

We had what we thought to be two Salmon Faverolles cockerels. Well, it turns out they are both girls! Their coloring was so off from standard breed for hens that we were convinced they were boys. We were ready to give them away. :(

If you are thinking of doing the DNA sexing I would highly suggest it for a “suspect” bird.

I know this is several months ago, but I am curious which company you ended up using and what kind of results you had?
I had 11/14 cockerels/pullets from a silkie hatch earlier this year. Fortunately, sold most of them as week old chicks, found out their genders from the new owners later. I ended up feather testing (with iqbirdtesting) my remaining 6 for gender. I plan on breeding the ones I have left in the Spring and was considering sending in eggshells.
Thanks for answering if you are so inclined. 😊
