Do Cherry Eggers start having red in their combs and wattles at 3 weeks?

Cherrry eggers are a strain of production Reds. Since they have (I believe) some leghorn blood infused a ways back, having a larger comb isn't unheard of. I do think those red wattles herald cockerels, though. Sorry.

I suspect you are right. Well, if even one is a hen I will be satisfied. The breed of chicken I eventually want is Welsummer.

Since, I am aware I still have a lot to learn about chickens I wanted to start with birds from one of the local stores. Less investment if something goes wrong.

I am beginning to think all three are cockerals.

Each picture is a different bird. The top one is the one I'm not sure of. The wattles are only pink not red. If the pink gets darker over the next few weeks I guess I will have my answer.

Well, all three were cockerels. The store manager was kind enough to give me three replacement birds - different breeds of those three one is a pullet. I still had the three cockerels to do something with.,,,

This spring and summer out of 12 "guaranteed to be female" chickens - 9 ended up as chicken dinner. Four are still going strong and laying beautiful eggs. Of the four - 3 are Welsummer.

Very interesting, I had never heard of Cherry Eggers before. Knew they didn't lay cherry red eggs or that would have been front page news.
