Oh wow I didn't see the resemblance until now. What would one be doing in arkansas?

I thought it looked like a fisher at first...but now I see rings on the tail. Boy is that guy in rough shape.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this. I don't know how something can get into such a bad shape.

Coatis are found regularly in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Could have migrated north in a truck or in someones boat they were trailering. They're very similar in habits to raccoons.

Centrarchid probably hit the nail on the head. When you google Coatis the google bar tries to guess what you are googling and one of the things it wants to put up is "Coatis as pets" . I'd never heard of such a thing and never would imagine one of these as a pet. They must have a disposition that makes them agreeable as pets...? Never a good idea to try to make a pet out of an animal meant to be wild though... Probably why this guy is out cruising around. Poor thing..really.

Pretty sure we have some coop visitors. Even without free ranging this winter our girls should not be going through this much food. Buckeyes might be next on the hatching list.
