Do chickens go brain dead at night?

Interesting, that would make a lot of sense because rods and cones serve different roles in the eyes (both human and avian). Rods are used in low light conditions, but arn't good at color perception. Color perception is taken care of by cones. So chickens must have more cones, and thus arn't as good for night vision.
