Only one egg a day unless a second yolk manages to fall into the oviduct. Those eggs are usually small or they join in with the first (hence double yolkers).

Usually they lay an egg every day and skip a day now and then. Once I had a hen lay two eggs in one day. One of my girlÂ’s layed one egg in the early morning and again in the evening. That day all of my girls layed an egg and I had one extra egg. I collect the eggs every day and feel around in the nest boxes as they have tried to hide them under the Spanish moss I use in the nest boxes. One evening when I collected the eggs there was one extra egg. I had 16 chickens and 17 eggs.
