Do Chickens Prefer to Lay In Indoor or Outdoor Nest Boxes?

Tip: make a slab with hwc or add pavement tiles around the coop to prevent digging predator’s to enter. Eg. fox, dog, marter, rat.
Yeah. The only REAL “predator-proof” coop design I’ve found are the fully enclosed shed or tiny house style ones. My huskies will tear through hardware cloth like tissue paper to get to the chickens unfortunately. If you’re really invested in protecting your flock, the only almost fail safe methods are the ones you’d use to build a “human” house.

When you think you have them figured out, they fool you again. Any place, any shape, wherever they choose. All boxes, a few boxes, the non-sleeping coop box, in the middle of the run, in a dirt bath, behind a metal roof piece, under a space made by a fallen large flat board. As long as you can find them, you're golden. My current 11 hens use only one box, the largest, non-private, ugly, plastic, repurposed cat litter pan with shavings, set on a low shelf in the used to be temporary brooding coop. Have 5 built-in lovely boxes they no longer use.
