My chickens are 19 weeks old and all three laid their first egg last week on the same day!! However, throughout the remainder of the week only one chicken continues to lay (I assume it is my silver laced wyandotte since her comb is already deep red from what I've researched). My buff orpington and americauna haven't continued laying. I switched to 16% layer feed a few weeks ago when I ran out of the starter feed.
From what I've read it seems that it will take awhile for the girls to become consistent with laying. My question is: why did all three lay on the same day if the other two aren't mature enough to lay? Do chickens sync up with their egg laying cycles? Also, do I need to provide any additional protein or is the 16% layer feed sufficient?
Thanks in advance for any help! We are a new chicken family
