Hello all!! I've been researching and researching chickens like crazy because i'd like to add more to my flock. One or two of my current girls have an egg song (I think it's the Easter egger & Columbian Wyandotte). I have a Partridge Cochin whom I completely adore & a golden laced wyandotte...

Anyway, I'd hate to bother my neighbors with more singing chickens (my orpington was incredibly loud!!!! As was my Plymouth Rock. I ended up gifting them to my sister).

Anyway, my question... Does anyone have a loud (non-bantam) Cochin?? Does type of Cochin matter?? I love their fluff!!!

Yes, mine do have a sympathy egg song also. at least the girls are supporting each other. I just wondered if Cochins specifically had a loud egg song? I can't find anything on specific on Cochins "singing". I can hear the Easter egger across the neighborhood .

Every breed will have an egg song, though some are quieter than others. I have two LF black Cochin pullets. Neither are laying yet, but I have found them to be more laid back and less vocal in general than other breeds, even compared to my bantam Cochins. My buff Brahma hen will be seven this year, and no longer lays eggs, but sometimes she didn't even talk after laying, and when she did, it was fairly quiet. Good luck with your choice.
