We only had one breed of chickens growing up so I don't know.....Do different breeds get along or do I need to seperate them?

They are Year old RIR with a DOMINANT Roo

and the "other" Roo with 10 ladies. I am getting some white egg layers to add some color to the flock and different eggs. Minorcas, Rose Comb leghorns, Aconas, or Blue Andalusions as day old chicks. Will keep them seperate until they are big enough to not get pecked too much.

The last sentence you wrote is the answer to your question. I try to integrate my young ones for the general egg laying pen when they're around 5 months old. They're old enough to run away and young enough not to climb the pecking order quickly and cause fights. My juvenile pen is next to the layer pen so they are all desensitized to each other. They do free range in cliques by age. If you don't like your dominant rooster, cull him!

Like Colby said, an integration process has to take place, before just throwing them all together. I keep them in seperate pens, but where they can see eachother and slowly let them free range together and eventually they will all get along. You will still have a pecking order, breed has nothing to do with it. Also if your Rooster is mean, I wouldn't keep him.

Thanks....was not sure if there were breeds that don't "mix" well. And the overly Dominant Roo is a good protector of the flock and keeps the ladies in line. Lots of foxes and other assorted chicken biters...he's the only one who seems to watch for them.
