I have been thinking of getting geese to add to our flock of 30+ chickens and 2 ducks. Will they all get along or do I need a separate space for the geese ? Any tips or things to be aware of...?
Thanks,
Gander girl

I would think you'd have to house the geese separately as I've heard they can be quite aggressive towards other animals. I am sure someone else with much more knowledge on geese and issues like this will answer though! :D

Okay, I’ve heard some breeds are better (more friendly) then others.. is that true also it sounds like when raising them from babies they are more likely to be gentle and friendly

I had White African geese and they are very gentle and extremely good parents, too. I have turkeys. chickens. ducks and they all free range together. At dusk, the geese lead the group into the barn and all the birds follow like ducks in a row, about 180 birds, including the 2 pair of geese. All I have to do is go to the barn and close the doors, to protect them from predators. In the morning, at dawn, I open the doors and they head for the pond along with the 40 ducks and everybody gets along great.

If you go with just females, any breed will do. The ganders are the hitmen. Ganders, however, are the charmers the rest of the year. I started with 3 ganders but that didn't help once spring hit.
If you go with goslings this year, you can make it work through winter but have an area ready for them by March.

Thanks for your help I have decide to take a chain link fence and make it a living space for them during breeding season

Yep, I got one a year ago and am going to put it into the pen thanks and anything else I should know?
