those are pics of hatchery cochin chicks i looked at rir chicks and they are slightly different than cochin chicksSo that fact that it doesn't compare to better quality red birds, makes it a buff? As opposed to a lighter red? I know the difference between buff and red.
Pictures of a Production Red/Rhode Island Red hen from Ideal. See how light her down is? And notice the darker markings amongst the red color. Then look at her adult coloring. That is what I am comparing.
