do i need nesting boxs?

I'm new to pet chinkens and made a coop for them that is in a close in patio. That I close up every night. and let them out in the morrning. do i need nesting box or will they lay in the coop?

nesting boxes are a good idea because if you dont have any they will lay on the floor and that is a very bad habit because some of them will eat the eggs

some of mine lay in the nest and others in the corner of the coop..

they will lay in the coop you made if you give them a nest, like a milk crate with shavings or hay in them, with a bit of trial and error.

If there is a certain spot you would like them to lay their eggs then try putting some fake eggs in that spot and show them where it is a few times.
