Do I need to insulate my coop?

In Florida also. NO Insulation. LOTS of Ventilation. "Open Air" Coop designs are well suited to our dual heat and humidity issues. Chickens are well equiped for cold - certainly colder than we get even up here in the Panhandle. They are very poorly equipped for heat - they can't sweat, and they can't take off their down jackets.

They do need a sheltered area they can hide from very high winds and sideways driven rain in our coldest months - but that's more a wind issue then a temp issue. and even then, lots of ventilation above their heads is desired.
