Do newly laying pullets act sick?

I just woke up and have been catching up on your posts, latest ones first, so it's why my answers seem out of order.

With a reproductive issue, it may affect the crop because any blockage will slow the crop function. Try giving her a probiotic every day for now.

Yes, antibiotics do increase the susceptibility to fungus. But it's easily treated. I include a probiotic tablet with the amoxicillin when I treat a chicken to keep up their good microbes to overwhelm the fungus. Keep her with her flock unless it becomes to difficult to treat her.

If she develops a yeast infection in her crop, it's easily treated with miconazole women's vaginal yeast cream. I squirt the cream right into the beak, about a chicken mouthful.

Amoxicillin is given once a day at 250mg or you may divide it into two doses of 175mg. It will work either way. The course is for ten days.

Sorry, I posted a lot too... I'm up at 3am for work so I have a lot of time to worry 😂 I basically started panicking as soon as it turned daylight and I could see she still didn't feel good. Thank you so much for all your help, I love these chickens and I hate seeing them miserable.

Sorry, do you have a preferred brand of human probiotic for the chickens? My local mill and tsc are out of everything. No antibiotics either, I'm going to have to try my horse's vet

I get the acidophilus at Walmart. I order my antibiotics online from any number of online animal pharmacies. Depending on whether you live in a place that prohibits the buying of antibiotics without a prescription, you can get most any med you want. KV Supply, Valley Vet, Jedd's are some I use.

Yes, pet stores that sell fish often carry these meds. Also pigeon supply shops.

Thank you, looks like I'm headed to PetSmart next! The mill at least had the corid. She still has not laid yet today, fingers crossed.

If I can't find amoxicillin would erythromycin or doxycycline work? Those are the only two my local pet shops carry, I'm still hoping my horse vet will come through for me though.

Hold out for the amoxy. Doxycycline is a rather specific med and not useful for broad use. Clindamycin is a good one. Also ciprofloxacin.
What about ampicillin? Apparently this is all he has. I may just need to ask him if he can write a script for me to Valley vet and hope it gets here in time. Everyone else I have asked behaves like I'm trying to get narcotics or something, it's really ridiculous.
