Do newly laying pullets act sick?

Clindamycin has to be greatly reduced for chickens. It's inconvenient, but you would need to divide the capsule into about four doses, depending on the strength. Chickens only need 50mg per day.

I get the acidophilus at Walmart. I order my antibiotics online from any number of online animal pharmacies. Depending on whether you live in a place that prohibits the buying of antibiotics without a prescription, you can get most any med you want. KV Supply, Valley Vet, Jedd's are some I use.

Yes, pet stores that sell fish often carry these meds. Also pigeon supply shops.
I forgot to ask, do you give the chickens one whole acidophilus tablet?

Yes, it's not medicine, just gut microbes she has inside her anyway.
Gotcha! She had her first dose of antibiotic last night and she actually came out of the coop this morning, but her crop still had quite a lot in it. It was down a bit from last night though!

Give her the probiotic and do a little gentle massage while slightly supporting her crop with your other hand. Just about one minute. It will help empty the crop and help her feel a little better and she'll feel more like eating. Do keep checking it in the mornings to make sure she isn't developing a yeast infection which would require treatment.

Thank you, I got it in her as soon as I was home this morning. She is getting up and pecking at things from time to time now but doesn't want to eat anymore. Yesterday she would at least take a couple bites of scrambled egg, wet mashed layer feed, or coconut oil for me. I put her down in the grass to move around after I gave her the probiotic and she had a really weird colored poo, like seafoam green. When I put her back in the coop I found the attached pic on the ramp and I'm wondering if it was also her. It's not caking onto her butt feathers, she must have been preening herself at some point because I didn't clean her and yesterday she laid in quite a bit of liquid white/clear poop.

Yesterday afternoon I got her to eat about 3/4 of an egg scrambled with extra coconut oil plus a little shredded up celery leaves and sorrel. She seemed improved and was getting up a little more often and was preening, and I took her out into the yard for a little walkabout on her own. She picked at some choice things there but never really ate much of it, but scratched quite a bit and did some dustbathing for the first time in a few days. She did get up and have some of the shredded handful of mixed greens I gave to the others in the coop later, as well as some roasted acorn squash skin, but didn't chase the treats down like normal.

She had another seafoam colored liquidy poop last night, then this morning had one with more brown in it and then a completely solid one later in the morning. I haven't seen anymore blood. She does have light colored liquid poop on her outer butt feathers again so I was surprised when she had the solid one. Her crop never has emptied and she has not wanted to eat anything of susbtance so far today, but did eat a piece of oyster shell that I put with the scrambled egg I offered her and nibbled a little grass in the yard. She is still laying around ruffled up most of the time and has not passed anything since that first egg after I started giving the calcium tabs.

That's encouraging that she seems improved. It's the direction we are hoping for.

What color eggs does she lay? Humor me. I have a hunch here.
