do not buy from gerbers

thanks for the replies all i wanted was for them to put a new sleeve on for me but no gerbers cant do that but they will sell me a patch for a ridiculous price.

I suppose I will be blasted for saying this, but did YOU read the content label in the garment before purchasing? Those little white tags are in the clothing for a reason... too many people not knowing what they were buying, and suing the provider when the item didn't serve the intended purpose. It is kinda like that little disclaimer on the McDonald's coffee cup...Coffee is HOT! If an informational label is provided, read it! If you do read it, and still are told by the sales person that it is suitable for your purpose, THEN you have reason to complain.

Wait wait wait wait a doggone minute here!!!!!!! After everything that has been posted by the OP and all the others. THE OP IS SAYING HE JUST WANTS A NEW SLEEVE OR A PATCH??? DIDN'T YOU LEARN ANYTHING!?!?!? The clothes you were wearing when you were welding just melted and singed your sweater, the sweater that was covering your flesh. And you want to patch it and wear it to weld in again? Really? Return the whole dang thing, demand (nicely) your money back and use the refund toward a more protective outfit. You were warned the first time with no injury, the next time could be life changing. Protect yourself, you are the only "you" there is!!! P.S. Stay in school.

RDevries, I dont think you can get a new sleeve for your coat. Companies do not repair damages on coats. You will have to order a new coat or order a sleeve from a specific company that CAN send you a replacement and have a good stemstress to do the work. IMO, its more expensive to do this so better off get a new coat.

Since they can sell you a patch, either figure out the real cost of a good coat vs the patch AND your life.

Find another company and do your research a little better. Polyster is durable but highly flammable. Reading labels will help also. See if they have flame retardant on it.

Gerbers is a well known, well respected name in the world of children.
I was not aware that Gerbers even had a line of adult clothing, much less
mens coveralls.

So first question, are we even talking about the same company?

I own a welder. I have torches.

And I have a welding jacket, I bought from a welding supply company. Same
place I bought my gloves, my helmet, my hood, my lens. It isn't a cheap store.
It's about them having the correct gear for the job.

You are responsible for your own safty.

Your instuctor should have checked your jacket, yes.

But the error was yours. Yours alone.

$40.00 is a cheap price for the lesson you will never forget.

Lesson learned? Now go buy a welding jacket. A real one.

Well I think you should pull out the burned Coveralls and check the Label if it say's MADE IN CHINA then I think you have answered your own question, why do you think you only paid $40.00 for them instead of real welding clothes. Of course the clerk didn't know how to advise you what did you expect from a minum wage store clerk, and the Company knows they were wrong producing an inferior product but hey you thought $40.00 bucks was a good deal. This is happening all over the country with all sorts of products, and it is ultimately the consumers responsibility to educate themself on Products we buy. So really everybody was wrong and everybody knew it, see the problem here.
