Do Not Purchase a Coop from Chicken Coops NW

Really long story short, I purchased the Farmhouse Chicken Coop from www.chickencoopsnw.com which they advertised via craigslist. I purchased it because it looked like good quality and the ad stated that it held 8 chickens. When we received it, box 1 of 2 came first, and 2 of 2 came a week later. When I opened both boxes the coops was heavily damaged and included lots of broken parts. Also, because the quality was so poor (i.e. the wood is literally so soft that the hardware won't attach) a lot of the cosmetic damage actually caused functionality issues. Also, once it was assembled it became clear that there was no way 8 chickens can live in there.

I contacted the company immediately to let them know of that I was really disappointed in the quality of the product, the way in which is was shipped separately, and the broken pieces. I was really hoping for some good customer service at this point. Nope. Let's just say that a month later we have disputed this purchase with our bank as business fraud and counterfeit merchandise, and are in the middle of a BBB dispute.

Even though I spent so much time researching a decent pre-fab coop I still landed on Chicken Coops NW because none of their negative reviews show up. They are formerly known (even to my bank) as My Urban Farmers LLC. All of their true colors come out under this name. Please research the business thoroughly before purchasing.

Sorry for your experience. I see their ad all the time and like you discovered that they did in fact operate under another name. I live in the PNW, so of course it would be nice to buy local. Glad I figured it out though. And hopefully now many will see your post and steer clear.

Wow- wish I had seen this before I purchased. I just assembled a Farmhouse coop. What a piece of junk. The first wind will blow it over. And I wouldn't put more than 2 chickens in it even it was sturdier. When you build a product that belongs outside it should be able to withstand a little wind. This thing weighs nothing. And I can't imagine it would provide any protection from the elements in the winter. What a rip off. I've emailed them but based on what I read here I guess I am out $500- can't use it.

If you bought it with a credit card, call the credit card company and dispute the charge. Tell the CC company it is not the quality they advertised.
I bought my coop from Costco and use it as a grown out coop for my babies. I use a 6x10 dog kennel as my main coop.

Chicken Coop NW now goes by Urban. All of their coops are bought in bulk from china. They are terrible quality and steeply overpriced. A coop costs them around $150-$200. Do not think they are a local manufacturer.
