I have several Barred Rocks. I noticed that one that I thought was a hen has spurs. Do only Roosters have spurs or do some hens have them too?

Nope...hens have them too and apparently the spurs are genetic on the females.

It is genetic, or at least can be.
I had one rooster who produced many hens with spurs, most of them in fact.
I think it is related to hormone levels in some cases, too.

My oldest hen has some pretty long spurs.About an inch and a half.Nothing has tried to eat

Sorry to go off topic, but that poor turkey in your avatar! Was that an actual photo, or is it photoshopped?

I found it on google.

I have an old RIR hen with big honkin' spurs. She's seven now, but she had them when I got her and she was three years old, so they can get them when they're young. It may be a hormone thing like hens crowing.
