Do people always forget your name?

Years ago, my Dad told me that his Mother used to call the other five siblings before she got to the one that she was trying to call. He said that he was 15-16 years old before he realized that he didn't have a sibling named "Da** it!"LOL!

My last name is Dickinson, so I always get "Angie" or "Emily" instead of Amy. (And no, I am not the Amy Dickinson with the syndicated advice column!)

My brother is only 13 months younger than me. He's Dick and I'm Dean...and growing up everybody got us mixed up...most of the time when we met new people they thought we were twins. We live in a pretty small community and my brother is a head high school football coach...that makes him somewhat recognizable around here....and I guess even in our mid (late?) forties we must still look alike, because almost everyday somebody thinks I'm him..... but I don't see it..

And my mother still calls me his name and vise-versa....

I'm Iain Symon, and it's really annoying when people call me Iain symons, Iain Simon, Ian Simon, Iian Simon etc.. why does my first and last name have to have so many different spellings. People even put an 's' at the end of my name on purpose when they speak or write it

oh, and if someone calls us and says, 'Is Mr Symons there?' we say 'Nope, sorry wrong number'

Although they always call the right number, just say our names wrong

When I tell people my name. They think it is just a pet name or nick name.

Yup my name is Sunshine

Its on my Birth Certificate.

I once had a cop think I had some kind of fake ID..

Now my married name is Ware..

So when I make a phone call to some business and they ask my name.
They think it is a joke..
Or they say. No its not sunny here right now..

One time I got a phone call.
They thought I was some kind of business.
Like a travel agency..

Some times it a bit frustrating when you have an unusual name.
But at other times. Its a good thing.
Because most people remember it.\\

Example. Yesterday I went to a restuarant. They took my first name. I was waiting for a to go order. Then the manager of the place just happened to bring my order to the counter and went to read my name to tell me the order was ready. They thought their employee was playing a joke on them. Until I went to the counter to pick up my food..

By the way, I have a sister named Misty..
And my daughters middle name is Sky. No there is no "e" at the end of it.

My sister and I promised each other as kids to try to keep the unusual weather names going.

People always say my last name incorrectly and it isn't spelled that unusual. I just ignore it and hope that when I mispronounce someone else's name that the person will be forgiving of me.

My last name has a long o sound created by an oa spelling. Lots of people say ut instead of long o. Sometimes people change the a to an s, which makes my name something entirely different.

Ah well, as long as I know that it is me they are talking to, I try to be patient.
