Do People Clip Wings Anymore?

I absolutely have to clip my banty's wings. Otherwise, they fly across the yard and over the six foot fence between my yard and the neighbors yard. They still manage quite the vertical jump regardless though...and are witty to boot! They've managed to get out of all sorts of situations and enclosures.

Just finished clipping 18 of our 24. DH and DS scrambled to catch them, while I clipped. What fun I had watching the "boys" catch the "girls"

I clip BOTH wings, and only my very lightest pullet can get over our 4' fence. Works GREAT to keep my free rage chickens free, and still on MY property.

I had started clipping one wing when i had a small section of fence that was only 4 ft tall then i adjusted it to over 5 ft. I still have one girl that likes to fly over and dig in my flowerbeds. She gets clipped regularly.

I have no plans to clip the wings of my chickens. I did have a parrot years ago so am familiar with how to do it but with my chickens I just don’t have the need. The run is large and enclosed on the top and when they do free range we have enough space that I wont have to be concerned with them going anywhere. Luckily we have a farm plenty big enough that they would still be on our land if they did fly anywhere and if they would happen to the north of our farm they'd just be on another farm and that farmer wouldn't mind at all since he has his own chickens who free range 100% of the time. I'd think that if I did have only a few acres or something that I would clip their wings if necessary as I don’t see anything wrong with it if it has to be done to keep them safe. I'm happy leaving my chickens unaltered and not messing with their beaks or wings.
