I like to keep an eye around for birds coming up for sale, this is one advertisement which really troubled me. I don't know a ton about ducks, but this looks pretty crammed and I would be worried about how fast they end up in their own waste, and about some of the smaller ones getting trampled to death. In the photos you can see most of the ducklings in with the adult birds are lacking the down on their backs. What do all of you think of this situation? Does it look bad? Why do they have so many feathers missing? I'm tempted to go look at them and see what conditions they're in. They don't look at all healthy to me....

Thanks.

They 100% need more space then that. They shouldn't be missing that much down. A tiny bit is normal, but those bavks looked bare.

Are you in the UK? The RSPCA should indeed care about these ducklings. Contact them and let them see the photos and your concerns
I see you are in Yorkshire, @Amfh

I check the RSPCA website and they are definitely the folks to contact. You can report animal cruelty on their website or phone them

https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/farm/worriedaboutafarmanimal

I also found this website that is a guide to reporting animal cruelty in the UK

My Husband used to work at a Chicken farm when he was young. The chickens were raised strictly for meat and kept in conditions like this. I think if this is a poultry farm they might not care much if they are going to market. It is so unfair to the animals but our poultry farms here get away with quite a bit of abuse simply because they are being raised for human consumption. I hope you can help them but don't be surprised if they do nothing at all unfortunately depending on where you are.
