Do they appear to all be pullets

Congratulations! They are all girls! They should start laying around 25 weeks of age. Don't be surprised if they lay 'oddball' eggs or seem to stop laying. Young pullets of this breed are known to provide those 'surprise!' eggs that people either laugh at or run screaming terror.

Holy Crow 25 weeks...

I was looking forward to eggs with in the month. Oh patience how you taunt me. You are scaring me the "surprise" eggs. Are there any pics or these "surprises" so I can prepare myself.

By 16 weeks I would expect to see a larger comb and wattle on a cockerel. Right now from what I see in this photo it appears you have all pullets. However, if you could provide us with body photos so we can see the tail we might give you a more accurate guess.

In this photo of 16 week old JG's you can definitely see the larger comb and wattle in the cockerel.

Your flock is beautiful!!!

Another shot:

4 weeks later.

Maturing pullet:

Hope this helps! I hope yours are all pullets.

My young pullets would surprise me with soft shell eggs with tiny tails.
Is this a deficiency of some sort? Is there anyway to prevent this? I must say I never thought an egg could have a tail. Does this happen to only the first month or so after egg laying or does it continue at various times. Sorry for so many questions. I'm clearly new to homesteading.

I have 2 buff Orpingtons hatched on March 3rd & I'm STILL waiting! Yours look more ready than mine! At least my 2 sex links are laying! Hang in there!
