Do u think roos or pullets

Weird thing. Although they are only 6 -7 weeks old. When I pat them they squat??
I always thought this was a hen trait not a rooster.
These little buggers are confusing me :(
It won't be squatting in the way pullets do it.
Squatting is the hen being submissive and allowing you to mate...which would occur when the pullet is becoming sexually mature...which also wouldn't be at 7 weeks.

Baby cockerels are often the most adventurous and for that reason, can be a child’s first choice as the “friendliest” chicks.

The best picks from a bin are the shy but healthy chicks....

I think you have cockerels.

I know this news is disappointing. Want to welcome you to BYC.

I didn't think it would be squatting in a submissive way. However it's weird. I put my hand over top and pat downwards towards tail gently with no pressure and they literally almost lay down. Like a squat.
These buggers confuse me as certain things say hen but looking at the comb and wattle they say roo.
I guess all I can really do is wait.

You are training them well. When you push through them or put your hand over the young ones, you are teaching them who’s boss. It’s best to teach them young.

Had a feeling. My eldest is going to be so disappointed. They are so friendly falling in love more and more every day.
If roos gonna have to look at rehoming. 😓😥

Unfortunately, neither have a chance of being female.
The combs alone at that age are male. Then they also have red leakage.
I'm sorry. Can you find some pullets for your daughter to replace them?
😥Damn
Gonna have to look around and see if I can find some sound the similar age.
Gonna be sad to see them go that's for sure. Although only had four 4 weeks we have all grown to love them. Evan my toy poodle likes them

Thank you.
We try our best. My girls and I are all animal lovers . Gonna be hard to say goodbye to these ones
Hopefully can get good temperaments for the next ones (should/ when) we get more

Dealing with the males is probably the most difficult part of having chickens.

With experience, you will be able to pick some sweet pullet chicks.

I’m glad the toy poodle likes the chicks. I have needed to keep dogs away from the chickens. These dogs are big, and we needed to build them out. Our dog is a notorious egg-eater.

We built a secure run. Now, I am only dealing with possums and maybe an owl.
