Do very sick chickens ever recover and live for long?

NEED A LITTLE HELP PLEASE Her crop is the same this morning. I let them out first thing and she walked again slowly as usual for about 30 minutes eating small bugs and maybe grass clippings. I don't know if she's actually eating or just going through the motions. She is drinking water...22 sips to be exact! She did look like she was going to eat the wet chicken food but didn't. Some watery poo where she slept last night but very little. She ate a little coconut oil today and I massaged her crop. I put her in a dog crate next to the others with water and wood chips. She drank water then appeared to start eating wood chips! So dumped those all out and left her with water, a few cooked egg pieces with coconut oil in them and a few wet crumbly chicken pellets. She closed her eyes standing up. What do you all think about giving her a still softener today?

Did you repeat the float test after treatment to make sure it was effective? I'm also not sure ivermectin pour on is the best treatment for capillary worms, and have read that some parasites are becoming resistant to it. If at all possible I'd repeat the fecal to make sure that worms are gone and are not still an issue, and if they are, re-treat with a different medication.
If you cannot redo the float test, I'd consider re-treating with another medication anyway, to make sure they've been gotten.
If the parasites are the only thing going on, then getting rid of them and getting her insides healed up should allow her to live a normal life. If there is something else going on, then different story. There are some management things you can do to minimize re-infection with capillary worms, here is a link with info:

Update 10:52 am Wens. She ate all the scrambled egg i left for her and pooped this watery white liquid. I took her more egg which she promptly ate. She is asleep standing again. I got a sample of the poo and cleaned it up. May have it tested for worms today. Stool softener???

It's a good idea to just have water only in her cage for the day so you can work on the crop. You can use the stool softener to see if that makes a difference.
It's never a bad idea to have a fecal float done to see where the worm load is now. Hopefully the Ivermectin took care of most of them. If she still has a load, then I would consider using the Safeguard.

Her crop seems smaller and not as full. I can really squish it. She acts perkier and really hungry. I have given her a very small amount of egg. Just 5 or 6 pea size bits. I am in town. Will get chick feed and a plain yogurt. Will see what has come out when i get home. She had 3 good size but white watery droppings this morning. Is that a good sign that things are getting thru? Thank you so much!

Probably. i will call and see if I can do that. they are due to retreat with ivermectin This Saturday which is 10 days after the first treatment. Her crop is the same this morning. No bigger, no smaller, somewhat harder but softens as soon as I squeeze and massage it. Her poo has more brown in it. She is eating the chick starter and egg in very small amounts and drinking water. but still very thin and weak. Poor baby. I have Rooster Booster probiotic powder from Tractor Supply. Since water seems to be getting through i will add that to her water. Should I try emptying her crop? if so, how? She's so frail i am afraid to turn her upside down and have never done that. Thanks
