Do you Believe in Santa?

Thank you!!! I am sitting here with my brow furled wondering what in heck Santa Claus has to do with Christianity.

If you don;t believe in Santa, you don't believe in magic, and if you don't believe in magic, you miss out on many, many wonderful things in your life.

Santa Claus is part of Christmas. Being non-Christians, we don't celebrate Christmas. Thus, no Santa.

I guess I never looked at it that way. I wasn't raised Christian and we always celebrated Christmas.

I didnt know Santa had anything to do with the church...
Baby Jesus and the nativity, yes, but not fat jolly Santa... They are 2 seperate things/ideas...
Just like the Easter Bunny and candy has nothing to do with christ either..

I am a Christian, but still believe in Santa Claws!

In my family Santa gives everyone 3 gifts. Like baby Jesus was given 3 gifts (from the wise men)

I always thought to believe in Santa was a Christian thing. Santa gives gifts on Christmas, so if you don't celebrate Christmas why would you believe in Santa?
Just my two cents for whatever it's worth.

AF He would most likely be a gnostic (not to be confused with an agnostic), but that is not the only option. Satanism can be split into two major groups. Theistic Satanists may worship a devil figure or Satan. It doesn't neccessarily equate to what people think it does though, as some can view the Old Testament god as...a not really nice person, and find what are generally considered 'good' morals (ie. self-awareness, development of the self) through worshiping another figure that may or may not be Satan. There are many branches/groups/forms of this. LaVeyan Satanism can be thought of as organized atheism, and no sort of god is worshiped or supernatural occurances believed in.

I too know atheists and religious people other than Christians who celebrate Christmas. It is too culturally rooted to be exclusively religious.

I do not believe in Santa. I stopped at an early age. But when I stopped believing, the more desperate I became about having others proclaim his existence. I became angry and defensive when I asked people if they believed in Santa, and they answered honestly, "no". Their truth was obviously a personal attack on my very beliefs...er, cultural should-be beliefs. I have a much happier and more natural outlook on most things in life now. I don't care if people believe in him or not, so long as they aren't, say, climbing down people's chimneys or harrassing people who do believe, basically, taking it to an extreme. I now am more able to openly listen to other people's opinions without judging or becoming personally affronted. I'm personally very happy with this change.

Oh my goodness, folks believe the day on the calendar we call "Christmas" has something to do with being a Christian?

My my my. Huh.

Now, about "believing" in Santa.... I do believe there is a little bit - or a lot! - of the giving spirit of Santa Claus in many, many folks' hearts. If it is especially observed around the end of the calendar year in the dead of Winter, that's a good thing. If it is evident any time of the year, that's even better.

It's a wonderful thing to see silver and gold, red and green, bright shining lights adorning an evergreen, and lovingly wrapped presents beneath it during the holiday season, whatever the reason.

I don't believe in Santa. My Year 1 teacher broke the news to me when I told her I had a suspicion Santa wasn't real.
