Do You Cook 4 Your Chickens??

I buy lots of pasta, really thin spaghetti.
I boil a big pot of it and give it to them morn and night! ducks love it.
Also boiled eggs, I give yolk only and save the whites to make pavlova!
And oatmeal in winter too!
They deserve the best~

I made oatmeal for dh and myself for breakfast yesterday and cooked extra for the chickens, my 10 year old son came downstairs and thought I was nuts! This is the first time they've had anything beside chick food/grower besides crickets and yard worms....They just looked at it for about 5 minutes and then decided to try it!!! Maybe the foil pie plate turned them off, but they sure liked it!

mine get leftover oatmeal. i have cooked them scrambled crunchy eggs before. but then i did that for the stray cat, too. minus the crunch.

I do all the above and mine had biscuits and gravy this morning!! I overcooked the sausage so the gravy was nasty so they got it. Ate every speck of it, too!

My silly chickens do NOT like cooked oatmeal and that is what we have every morning. Funny chickens.
They DO love cooked rice tho and I have cooked them rice before.
When Fussy got cold and came in crying, we threw a pot of rice on quick, cuz she loves rice and it being warm was just icing on the cake. It made her feel lots better.

Oh yeah, i cook for my chickens, and DH is so jealous! Cook for the chickens more than I do him. I cook all kinds of pasta, they love mac and cheese, rice, eggs, and even pancakes. They get most of our leftovers, much to the dismay of the dogs! They also get canned veggies in the winter, and fruit. We sure do spoil our chickens, but they are just so funny when they get a treat!

okay. i want to come be you guy's chickens. sausage biscuits. mac and cheese. PANCAKES.

i can bock bock for you really nice and do a little chicken dance.

Chickenfeathers, funny you should mention starting to cook oatmeal for your chooks. I just started to do that too. On cold mornings, it just seems a nice thing.

We had our first killing frost last night, and the girls got extra warm oatmeal this morning! Not to mention, it is good for me too, rather than ucky cold cereal that I would normally have!

Unfortunatly my girls have been "de beaked".I didnt realize they would have this done to them when I ordered ....they were 21 weeks old.....I should have checked this site out before I jumped into Chicken life... !!!!

It was a shock for me when I took them out of the box.....BUT I love them and I have made many family members and friends laugh at the things I do for them.....I bake squash and any other hard veggie for them and they love it !!!Lately i have been giving it to them warm because the temps have dropped...they are happy ! It's funny how they all come running when they see me carrying a dish.I only wish my kids would eat like that!!!!......

I boiled up some pumpkin Saturday night, strained off the juices, and then boiled the peeps some rice in the pumpkin broth. Even added some cinnamon, which made DH roll his eyes. But they LOVED it!

I've been experimenting with my breadmaker, and the peeps eat the failures... In thier eyes I am clearly and AWESOME cook!
