Do you eat the eggs?

My FIRST one was a decent size from my hens. One of my pullets laid today (I guess she is a hen now!) and it was literally like a Dum Dum sucker. LOL So small! I tossed it to the dog. But usually when one of the hens lays a smaller than average, I just double up when they are used in a recipe. If it calls for 1, I use 2 tiny ones. No sense in wasting them.

I have BOs which are supposed to be Large egg layers. They have just started and I am getting a dozen small eggs for the past two weeks. We have eaten every one except for the few in the frig from today. They are so delicious.

Read on here they will continue to lay small eggs until after the first molt this fall and they fully mature. Egg size is supposed to improve after the molt. I really don't care cause I am so excited they are just laying!

Really? My brothers laid small for a short time and then they were big, some huge and after only a month or two ,no molt .
We have now collected 5 ( son ate the first one) and will have what ever we collected this weekend for breakfast! I can not wait until I get to taste one!

I ate the first small egg - fried it and had it with bacon and grits. I scrambled the second one, and my two granddaughter gobbled it down in about 2 seconds. In the space of three weeks, 4 of my 7 pullets have started laying - so 3 weeks ago we were treasuring that very first egg, and now I have over a dozen in the refrigerator waiting to be used.

what are blood and meat spots??

Sometimes there is a fleck of blood or tissue in the egg. My pullets had them when they first started laying. Seems to be a little glitch in the egg making system. It is perfectly safe to eat. Some people are freaked out by them.
