Do you edit your Facebook page?

augh. i have had to delete many a drunk post. mainly because the next morning they made little to no sense to me...
but thats beside the point..

your neice just sounds like a typical teen to me. give her another four or five years and her and mom will be bffs.

I generally leave most of what my FB friends say. Many of them are ultra-conservative, and while I am not, I respect the diversity and leave debates posted on all sorts of topics. The only exception I have ever made was on this years' anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. A friend of mine, a former neighbor from my old town, posted some very anti-muslim remarks, saying that "all Muslims support terrorism in one way or another", and some other totally inappropriate and disgusting things. Our debate on the topic went back and forth, getting heated, but I eventually deleted it all because my father's wife is Indonesian, and although she herself is Christian, many of her relatives are Muslim and are friends of mine on FB.

The irony of that whole story is that while my "friend" was sitting around at home on Sept 11 this year, typing hate and stereotyping muslims as terrorists, my Muslim family members were having a 9/11 Benefit at a non denominational church that very night, raising money for the victims' families and responders of 9/11.

Anyway, that's the only time I had to delete anything, and will continue to delete anything that promotes racism or bigotry. All other general debates I leave for the most part, although I'm sure there are a few other exceptions I would make.

FB is great for that kind of stuff. I did it myself once trying to guilt the kids into coming for Thanksgiving. I should not have done that and I still think they were wrong, but I learned my lesson and will never do it again.

As far as the OP's family member, No I do not do that. I had a post go bad yesterday and just left. Leave it alone.

I have had to delete things. Mostly stuff I just wouldnt want the kids to see. I had one friend that was from high school and he would be really sugestive and stuff in posts. Creeped me out. I mean I have been married nearly 20 yrs to my high school sweet heart that this guy knows. It just wasn't appropriate.

Oh and I just flat out blocked my crazy mother, that way she can't find anything about me on FB.

I try not to talk about really personal things on there.

I have deleted comments of a sexual nature. I ended up getting off facebook when many friends(or friends of friends) were posting how they hated muslims/arabs/middle eastern people. I say hate the person who hurt you not the entire group/race/culture.

Your relative will regret her postings later. If not then that is pretty sad that she doesn't care about hurting her mom.

I have a sister that says rude comments on pictures of me, my family, my critters. She put me down so much, I deleted most of her comments and removed her from my friends list. She's close to 40 but behaves like she's 17. Some people are rude, and no matter your intentions of making them see that side, they will likely disregard your comments or start a fight with you. Sometimes it is better to bite your tongue...it is still a lesson I'm trying to learn!
