Do you ever encounter people that don't know where eggs come from?

They WILL eat the labels off of them though, whicn is where that little gem comes from!

No idea if it's because of food residue on the labels, the labels themselves, or the glue that attracts goats to nibbling on them. I had a goat that would chew on anything I had... I think she resented any books or magazines I had because if I had a book it meant I wasn't giving her my complete attention or scratching her. so she ate as much as she could reach.

That reminds me of one of the opening scenes on "Beauty and the Beast" where a page of her book gets eaten by a sheep. Oh, or on "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" where a page (and a wood doll) get eaten by the gypsy Esmeralda's goat, Djali. Wow, I watch too much Disney, and I'm an adult without kids...who cares I love it!

I've heard all kinds of things. One fellow told me that it had been a long time since he'd seen unbleached eggs. I gave him a strange look and he told me that all eggs from the farm are brown and that they are bleached for the store. This was a fairly well educated guy and when I tried to explain things to him he refused to believe me.

I gave one of my in-laws a number of eggs which were fresh from the nest. He looked at them and said "What do I have to do to them?" I told him, "Cook them and eat them, you idiot". He was sure that they had to be processed somehow; scalded, pasteurized, homogenized or what have you before they'd be like the ones in the store.

Our new home in Wisconsin came with a 2500 hen layer house. The previous owner was producing 60,000 dozen, organic, brown, omega-3 eggs a year right in the backyard and his wife couldn't bring herself to eat brown eggs, so she bought white ones at the store.

and people are mildly weirded out by us having a photo of the steer that is currently in the freezer, taped to the freezer. We did not name the critter though.
Gives definition to the saying "know your food"!

Once I was talking to my friends who, obviously, had on idea what eggs came from. I had to explain to them that eggs come from a hen's *cough cough* , and when i did, they looked down at the boiled eggs they were eating and all three were excused to the restroom. Few minutes later, they looked really scared. I wonder why! Maybe because they were eating an empty ovum that had been cooked right from a chicken's *cough*! Their expression was P R I C E L E S S.
