Do you guys name your chicks?

My 4 Barred rocks have names , the kids named them.

Mr Grey - the rooster - kids named him this cause he is lighter color than the girls, and cause the kids liked the movie Dream catcher lol
The Girls - Jasmine, Rickie and Floe

It's a miracle that I remember the other pets names! SOOOO...we started giving the chickens names, but I couldn't tell you now what they are/were. Honestly, if Barbie dolls didn't come already named Barbie, all mine would have been "That blond doll"...so I didn't have much hopes for the chickens to get "real "names....though I do call them whatever the mood strikes me! Usually it's "No No Bad Bird!" when they are acting up.

My husband on the other hand...well I think he has names for everything, but I can only recall a few. Currently there is one white one - DH calls it Foghorn Leghorn and a dark brown one he calls Chicken Hawk and one he refers to as "The Pigeon" because of it's color and one with a funky toe he calls Nubbs (it's a little short but appears functional) and one he calls Baldy because he says it looks like a bald eagle - I don't even know which one he's talking abut though... OH! And I am pretty sure the one he calls Miss Prissy is really a MISTER Prissy (haven't broke it to him yet, waiting til it crows for him to figure it out).

So I guess my answer is MAYBE...as in MAYBE I will remember their name and maybe I won't....just depends on how or if my brain is functioning at the moment:p

I name all ofmy chickens as I notice their personalities, according to their coloring, of course. My hubby thinks I'm totally nuts about my chickens:tongue Even tho' he secretly seems quite attached to the little ones momma hen is raising. "Sure hope only one of these 3 is a roo, we need at least 3 egg layers ."(his newest theory.)

My first 6 chicks all got named. Star, the EE hen, Flitter, the BR hen, Chole, the blue silkie hen, Elmo, the RIR roo, Kirk, the BR roo, and Fuzz Ball, the blue silkie roo.

I've since got 10 more chicks, 2 BSL, 2 RSL, 2 RIR, and 4 BR. And honestly I can't tell them apart, so I haven't named them. I'm hoping as they get older they will be easier to tell who is who so they can have names too!

I have this thing, where once I name a pet or something, I can't change it. I feel bad.
So, I just name them as I see their personality.
Like Zeus. I have NO idea where it came from, I just thought of it when he was perched on my shoulder.
Quite frankly, I don't care about gender. A girl can be carl :)

We name most of ours. The girls would know more than me, but I can try. We have most of the Jackson family, thanks to my daughter. BLRW Wyandotte roo is Randy and the BLRW hen is Rebbie. We have Tito, a Blue Andalusian roo, and Latoya is a black minorca hen. There's a Janet, I don't know which one it is but it's a buff minorca hen. MIchael was a Silver Spangled Hamburg roo, that was named as a chick, Peep, and later changed. We lost him when he got too close to my coondog. We are searching for a replacement. We still need, Marlin, and Germaine, and Jackie. My daughters Serama pair are Paris and Prince MJ.

We have a splash Andalusian named Sunday. We have a Blue Cochin named Raine (she came named). The neighbor girl's Serama pair are Pot Pie and Tender (My favorite names so far, soooo funny). My daughter's call duck is Casper, but my Hubby calls him Lil Quacker, and I call him Lil Flippy, because of the wing flapping dance he does alot. We are all completely smitten with that duck.

There are more, but not that I remember.

I have 6 new chicks to name. Keep throwing out those names! I need suggestions.

What do you think of Samantha and Serena for the pair of leghorns I just brought home? (see my post on building my new hen house for a picture). I can tell them apart because the comb of one leans to the left and the other leans to the right, so far.
