I got this one for my kids, I designed it myself, and a Lady named Keely Tackett did the work, she has won MANY national awards for her work!!

sorry, I used my phone to take the pic, and it doesn't really do it justice. it covers the inside of my left forearm. I have had it for 7 years. I personally don't care what people think of me for having it, I never have. I love my kids, and I love my tattoo. I have 7. My kids will be getting tattooed when they are old enough, because they want to get them (my oldest son did have one of his friends do a "homemade" tattoo on his arm when he was 13, I will get it covered professionally when he turns 16!) I think if someone doens't like tattoos, well, they shouldn't get them!!!

this is my smallest tattoo, it is the kanji for evil, it is on the inside of my right wrist

but then, I am odd, and I like being odd!!

Okay I will finally jump in here. I have 2 tats. One I will show and one I will only tell you about.

The one I will show was originally done some 20+ years ago in Osaka, Japan. I got it solely for the purpose of tradition. I was testing for my Fourth Dan and all Fourth Dans received a tattoo that represented their life at the present time and their fighting style. so, I had it designed for me. The tiger represents my fighting style and the butterfly represented were I was in my life...transformation. I have seen various versions of it in the last several years and it irritated me. I was wanting mine updated to have more meaning of my life now. My life after surviving cancer twice, after suffering a stroke, after retiring from martial arts (both as teacher and competitor), my life as a military wife and our new life after retirement...so I spoke with a tattoo artist in Fayetteville, NC and told him what I wanted it to represent and he designed the new tat...9 hours later I had a beautiful portrait of my life on my right hip.

[Edit] - For me it is a tattoo of my life as it were but to someone else I guess it is just a pretty picture. The butterfly has grown, matured and now sits off to the sde, the tiger now comes through the bamboo into a new path on my life's walk.

The one I will not show was done at the same time as the other but it was done by my master with a bamboo needle and a mallet. It is located on the inside of my left thigh. It also holds a strong meaning for me.

I agree!

And Cetawin, that makeover is amazing!! You can't even see the previous butterfly image ..great work!

I hope to get some more ink done some time in my life, and get the one on my calf re-done ...a memorial to a very dear friend ..but I just haven't come across the right artist or the right design in my own head.

Nice ink, everyone!!

He was a Samurai by birth and a Master, to address him as a sensei would have been unthinkable...I am a sensei. Equivalent to a 10th Dan times 2 here in the US. Sadly, he passed away about 8 months after so the tattoo he did is extra special to me.

Here is most of my body art. My husband is a tattoo artist, so his artwork feeds our family, puts a roof over our heads, and pretty much allows me the luxury of staying home with my kids and indulging in my poultry obsession

. The top one is my upper right arm-swirling cherry blossoms and cherries. The next one is part of the same eventual 3/4 sleeve, a koi fish. The next one is my upper left arm. *sigh* Someday that will be a 3/4 sleeve too. The last is my lower back, I've had that one for over 10 years. Some people call it a "tramp stamp"

. I just call it awesome!!!
