Do you have TV service?

I haven't had cable or anything else for at least 18 years and I have plenty of shows to watch. Sure, I miss out on some of the shows I hear people talking about, but not much.

We had Dish but it was so much more expensive than the salesman said it would be when I signed up (somehow the $45 plan wound up being $70 by the time all the taxes and fees were paid). Plus, twice the box just deleted everything that was recorded for no apparent reason and Dish wouldn't even stand by their product. So the day our contract was up I told them to come pick up their equipment and since then all we've had is Netflix and Hulu. I haven't missed TV for a second. Several weeks into our first month of Netflix, both kids told me how much they love the new arrangement. Hey - its not often you can cut services and costs and have the whole family think its an improvement! Its now been a year and we're still happy. With so much online content, we still feel like we can watch "TV" whenever we want except now we're not subject to commercials and we can watch a 1-hour tv show in about 42 minutes.

We have DirecTV and all the channels we can get. Only because that is the only way we can get the MLB package and that is must have in this household. We usually watch old westerns on Encore Westerns. John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Robert Duval. I like the noise in the background during the day AND night.

I have a Roku box to watch internet TV. I pay for netflix an hulu plus on it but everything else I have on there is free.

Sitting here now watching (free) Yale University's Lecture 1 of there class on the civil war an reconstruction.

I'd love to ditch the tv service, but we get no over the air here and have no broadband for streaming tv. so I'm kinda stuck with direct tv and satelite internet

We have dish network and only one tv. thinking on getting basic tho, cheaper, and half the stuff on tv is garbage imo.

plus you can watch just about anything on the computer!

We have had no cable, rabbit ears or anything in 3 years and LOVE it. We do have netflix for a movie once in a great while. We missed it for maybe one week and have never looked back. It was a large waste of time and money for us.

These threads always get me itching to cancel the cable.

I recently got a letter that it was being raised.I pay about $56 a month. I think we would do fine without it. I want to cancel the cable and land phone line and upgrade the internet to a higher speed,so watching anything on the computer wouldn't be such an issue. We only have our landline for the dsl now anyway.

I like some cable shows, but could move on to reading books easy.

My mistake is ASKNIG the family what they think.I should just cancel and tell everyone to go read a book or take a walk, lol.

I get movies free from the library.
