Do you host Thanksgiving?

I think we've only hosted it once, for DH's side of the family. We probably would have done it more, but we were in a house-building state for several years. On my side of the family, we've usually just taken a dish to my mother or sister's house. We're 47 to 52. Unfortunately, because my parents are divorced, we have to have three Thanksgiving meals.

Mom always hosts Thanksgiving. We usually have my family come over, but this year, we just have me, my bros, Mom and Dad, and our houseguests... I hope. (no bratty girls from church, please!!

I hope I get to help with the cooking!

I always cook for Thanksgiving. I took it over after my Mom passed away.

It is family and friend open house. If you want to come, awesome ! A plate is here for you. If you can't, no problem, we will catch ya next time!

We always go to the family farm, where it will be held in one of the three houses that are all within a half mile of each other. The one house was just built to the west of the main house, and so we're going there this year. The family wants to show it off! And yet, when I get tired and need a nap, it's no big deal to go to my in-law's place to take a nap (pregnant, and making it through an entire day is sometimes difficult).

Okay, to explain that better, on the east side is my in-laws. In the middle is my husband's grandparents' house, and on the west is his uncle and aunt's place. There's a quarter mile separating each one (by road) but then the two newer houses are up the hill a bit too. Gotta love the river valley!

My mom hosts it, but I come a day early and help with cooking. Before that, my grandma was in charge (now she just sits in a chair with an iced tea and bosses Mom and me around -- she's earned the privilege, of course...I love Grandma!). I'll probably end up in charge of the whole deal eventually, after my mom gets a bit older and is tired of it.

We make everything from scratch.

I am 48, and have been hosting/cooking Thanksgiving since I had kids of my own in my 20's. We usually have between 10 and 20 people, and everything is made from scratch, from bread to dessert. My mom usually makes the pies (pumpkin, sweet potato, and pecan), and I cook the rest. I cannot imagine having it any other way.

39 here

I've been hosting for my family - anywhere 2 - 15 people since I was 27 or 28, this year the count is 11 of us - dh side (his mom, stepdad, brother, sister in law and kids) go out to eat usually. I can and have made everything from scratch I'v also used instant mashed potatoes (much to my grandmothers everlasting horror

) and other premade products - depending on the mood I'm in and what's on sale at the grocery store.

my mom and grandma always make the pies!
