He made me think she for a while, thought it layed a little egg after I checked the nest box, but today it crowed and oh my gosh I swear a cat was being killed. I've never heard such a bad crow. He hasn't crowed since, so, lets be thankful!

I've had a lousy chicken day..but nothing compared to yours.............
I am soo sorry.............I am sure the dog did not know any better.

I am so sorry. Irresopinsible dog owners and dumb dog make me sooooo mad. This spring all of my chickens, but 4 were killed by 2 dogs. I had over 40 grown chickens and more chicks.

Was actually our dog whom we sold yesterday, they just hadn't picked him up this was the first chicken he'd ever killed BY HIMSELF. No other puppies around to get him rowdy, he did this all by his own mind.
Looking into getting some more for my sis, it was mostly her chicken

Not saying you were irresponsible just the peoples dogs that killed mine were. they "tried" to chain them up before and it didnt work. So try something else! They very a pain in my butt and wouldnt coopereate. So got the sheriff involved all the sudden they kept their dogs inside.

Wow, really sorry to hear that. I havent ever had a chicken with Mareks, knock on wood. I hope thats not what it is.

We put her down... Watching to see if any other hens are infected. Do you know the period of time between 'chicken has mareks' and 'mareks Is killing the chicken', xD if that makes sense? Like th growth period between an infected chicken to an infected flock? Could I sell my birds, still? I don't know FOR SURE if its mareks, but if it is, if I brought in new birds, would they succumb to it? I REALLY hope it wasn't, but we dispatched of her quickly. Is there a way to tell if it was for sure mareks and if we're safe or not? I wanted to get some new layers then sell the extras, but if they have mareks.... /: no one seems to be able to answer my questions
