Do you know people grossed out by fresh eggs?

My husband's friend came over last weekend and was SHOCKED that we eat the eggs we get. He was like "Dont you have to DO something to them?" He really thought you had to bleach them to turn them white before you eat them.

He wouldn't take any of the eggs I offered him to take home and try.

when we got chickens.. we were kind of grossed out by the thought of eating the eggs...but we got over that this winter when we were using a lot for baking and cooking. I cannot imagine using store bought eggs now. And it's nice that when I want to bake something I am not saying "OH SHOOT! I don't have any eggs!" lol! Now I say..."hmm...what color should I use?"

I have a relative that does not want to eat chicken here any more.. and we have never even ONCE processed a bird. lol.

my oldest daughter says that our eggs are way yummier than store bought. atta girl!

My daughter!!! OMG when I told her that I had chickens and when the girls start laying I'd bring her some eggs to NY. You'd think I had told her that I was going to feed her poison!! She ranted and raved how she's not eating any eggs that came out of a chickens butt. (Ummm where does she think store eggs come from?)

So if she wants to eat nasty OLD store eggs..she can!

That's because they are used to old eggs. The ones in the store are at least 3-6 weeks old, the color changes to a pale yellow because the birds are fed less nutritious feed, are given antibiotics and face it are unsanitary birds. Even some eggs you buy in the store could be fertile, I think people think they are eating chicks that are forming. They just don't know what they are missing. My dh was like that and let me tell you now when we eat breakfast out he says these are not fresh eggs, they are stale. I think if you made somebody somthing and then they found out how good they were before they knew what it was, they might just change their minds.

It does surprise me, even after a year of having eggs, how grossed out people are by my fresh eggs. My SIL actually told her adult daughter that is was disgusting to take my eggs?!? I was so shocked--disgusting? I think they are delicious.

LOL @ tasting the rooster!

I have one friend who told me years ago that they were totally gross-too thick and they disgusted her (this was before we had laying hens, I was discussing buying some locally). She wasn't into many other things that were very 'natural' in origin.

Fast forward a few years, two of her children have disorders of unknown origin and she started researching dietary links and now she LOVES farm fresh eggs, wants to find raw milk, eat all organic, etc. I will happily be giving some of our extra to her now. (She's been buying them locally for months but the person she gets from is frequently sold out).

She was grossed out because it was 'different' but when she learned that different = better, suddenly it was a good thing.
