Do you know people grossed out by fresh eggs?

I've been incredibly lucky -- my friends and family (all in NYC) love the eggs I bring them. I actually use a plastic case and bring eggs on the plane with me when I visit. The gush about how great they are and are interested in learning about the girls.

i'm sorry to hear about all of the stupidity that everyone has been met with, by those who don't want something fresh. It's sad and angering at the same time, at least for me.

I love farm fresh eggs, although I think people are crazy for spending the premium in the grocery store for "cage free", fertile or organic eggs.

So many of those are in mass-production situations very comprable to that of the typical production chicken. These people would be far better off finding a local farmer somewhere and spending money on the little guy.

Before I headed out to go get me some chickens, my husband reminded me that I had to get some that laid white eggs. He says he will not eat brown eggs.

I really hope that he doesn't find the color or taste offensive. I told him that if he had a problem eating the eggs, then I guess his egg eating days at home are over. I refuse to buy eggs from the supermarket if I've got them freshly laid at home.

I will admit, however ..... that I've never eaten a fresh egg!!!

Te girlies aren't laying yet, so it's not like I'm refusing to eat my own eggs! I've just never had one, yet.

My hubbys dad and his wife say that "there is something wrong with those eggs, they taste funny". I'm wondering if the chickens were fed garlic or onions or broccoli or something to really make the eggs taste funny. They said they won't try ours once our chickens start laying. oh well more for us and everyone else that is excited for fresh eggs!!!

My best girlfriend can't wait for fresh eggs...the white ones anyway. She is a tad weirded out by the brown and green ones. Don't worry, I'll fix her wagon....Muah ha ha haaaa!!

I'm hopelessly addicted and I can't be without them! My husband is packing cases of beer and I say - save room for my eggs!

that's ridiculous! I love brown eggs! Maybe people are grossed out by fresh, healthy eggs, as opposed to the ones pumped with steroids and layed by chickens that have no lives, do not free range, and are contained in a box barely larger than themselves..... eh, to each their own??

As for green or blue eggs..... I currently have EE's in my incubator and cannot WAIT to eat green and blue eggs!!!!

As a kid we grew up on eggs and milk from the farm. My grandfather makes maple syrup and my grandmother use to make butter in her own little presses with a flower imprinted on the butter. I HATED all of it. I think for me a lot of it had to do with feeling like we were poor and all my friends had food from the store. I think for some people it almost seems archaic to be self sustaining. My grandfather's maple syrup sitting in my fridge in the mason jar is worth it's weight in gold to me and what I wouldn't give to have some of my grandmothers butter again. I can't wait for my chicks to start laying. As far as the milk well I moved onto skim so I guess I can go without the unpasterized. lol

When I was with the forestry in California I was fixing egg salad one day for lunch. The Captain asked why are the yolks so orange and I told him it was because the chickens ate bugs. He was a city boy and did not understand about free range and did not eat any egg salad that day. One of my crew was a good old country boy and just giggled and we had a good time eating the egg salad.
