Do You Like Feather-Footed Chickens?

I love my feather footed birds! I have d'Uccles and I used to have Brahma's!

We have so much mud here I wouldn't even bother getting feather-footed hens, but if I did I'd like to try Faverolles.

It's odd seeing someone named Swamp Princess liking feathered feet. I live in a swamp myself and specifically avoid feathered feet for the health of my chickens. It would be cruel having their little feet covered in wet feathers all the time

Their feet are a bit of a mess with the way poop and mud gets stuck in them.

That too. Most importantly for me, it doesn't allow the birds to dig as much, and it can limit their flight ability by weighing them down

I adore my faverolles however I wouldn’t get more chickens with feathered legs. Their leg feathers don’t normally get muddy or have things stuck to it but it is still a hassle and another thing to worry about. Although, surprisingly my faverolles get their beard more muddy and gross than their leg feathers. I have had to bring my faverolles inside on multiple occasions due to ice on their beards while their leg feathers were fine.

Mine seem to have a slight advantage over the clean legged ones in terms of losing their feet here to the cold. My old silkies got hit hard this year, but they still have enough on each foot to walk around.

I only have a brahma right now
But im gonna be hatching some French Blue copper Marans and some bantam cochins so then ill have more!
And i also wante Faverolles.
