The first time my mother ran into guinie birds, a flock of them had wandered into our yard and woke her up with that weird call of hers. she said " Those can't be normal. they must be aliens, you hear that noise they make? No... not only are they aliens but they were abandoned here. The other aliens kicked them out of the ship because they're so annoying"

I think it's highly unlikely. I suppose it would be possible, but I honestly think it's a waste of time looking. No matter who you ask, it's fairly useless looking for alien civilizations, since even according to atheists the probability of encountering alien microbes is absolutely miniscule, let alone space-faring civilizations.

For the heck of it - suppose that there were advanced civilizations out there. Is it REALLY a good idea to be broadcasting our location to the rest of the universe? We've seen what happens historically when a technologically advanced civilization encounters a more primitive one, and it isn't pretty. I suspect that if there WERE advanced aliens that came to visit us, it'd be closer to Halo or War of the Worlds than it would be to The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Timeline for hypothetical alien encounter:
Alien lands.
Alien is greeted.
"Ooh, benevolent advanced aliens!"
*Laser to humanity's collective face*
