Rather than making an absolute statement I'd have made it "life as we know it".
It was once thought that arsenic could no be used as a building block of life but yet it can be used and has been found to be viable.

Life as we know it does require certain concentrations and climates such as we have on Earth, but with the exception of Mars and Venus to some extent we only have one large macro laboratory to use. If it ever does become possible to study planets in other systems I believe that we will find other forms of simple life.

I read that link and some others and genetically speaking they are really not that closely related and if they were to of evolved into todays elephant they did it in a relatively short time 10,000 years and would have both been around at the same time, actually all 3 types would have existed at the same time. The modern elephant and mammoth are regarded as seperate species. Related yes but only by about 3/4 of the available DNA or so I have read. There are many creatures that share similar DNA but hardly resemble each other, fish are that example. Does that make all fish related? depends who you ask.

There is an interesting THEORY out there based on biblical accounts about other races. "Cain took a wife from the land of Nod" for example. The theory is that man was immortal up to the fall ( the day you eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil you shall surely die) and that since man never could die previous to the fall there is no record of time as we know it during that period from creation of man up to the fall so it is speculation as to how many people could have been produced as well as the lenght of time that actually occured.

If you stick with Evolution you have you have us, Homo neanderthalensis and Homo floresiensis among others...

Bibles view point..... My understanding anyway.... The bible never says Adam & Eve an there line were the only sentient humanoids on the planet. It only says they were the start of our line of sentient humanoids an Gods chosen people. Noah's sons wives were ether mix with or completely from a line of people not descended from Adam an Eve. Also, Goliath an the Philistines of that time were not described as being descended from Adam & Eve but of a different line of people.

In this context, two points should be noted. First, the length of the internal branch leading to the mammoth and Asian elephant mtDNA is only 7.3% of that leading to the African elephant (Fig. 3b). Paleontological data21 suggest a divergence of Asian and African elephants and mammoths about six million years ago in Africa. This date implies that the divergence between the mammoth and Asian elephant took place only 440,000 years after the divergence of the African elephant. Second, this time is short enough that polymorphisms in the ancestral species may have persisted between the two speciation events22, as has been observed for humans, chimpanzees and gorillas23. As the probability of such

Appeal to ignorance is a logical fallacy. No one can say yes or no on if there are aliens on other planets but we do have the technology to see other solar systems and study the planets in other solar systems.
