Yes, but they have their own unique appeal

I think silkies are cute, but I'll admit that I really don't care for that comb of theirs! When I get silkies, they're always PQ and have a straight comb

Just to clarify, I do not think silkies are ugly

I was unsure about them until I just visited my sister in Tennessee who raises Silkies. She has some Porto stock in hers and they are beautiful(they have quite the little personality too!).
I now understand the appeal of the little fluff balls.

That's EXACTLY what I meant. But you said it better.

) Yes, I don't think they're cute at all. They remind me of Poodles for some reason. I guess cause alot of people like them... I don't get it. She's getting show quality silkies this spring, so I'm sure I'll fall in love with them, like everything else!

Oh dear, can there be such a thing as an ugly silkie? IMHO...I don't think so. I just love them. And I just joined the American Silkie Bantam Club a couple weeks ago.

But, then again, God gave us many different kinds of chickens so we can all "Take-Our-Pick" so to speak. Makes life so much more interesting

I think they're so ugly they're cute . A southern friend of mine tried to sell me a pair of " show quality " that I could hide in my chicken banned city and I laughed at the price . He said that even though the market for them was bust , he still sold them occaisionally for that price and would always keep some . Said he had a market for them with a Chinese restaraunt and they were great " bait birds " . He went on to explain that he always ran two or three Silkies in his pastures with his " real " chickens because if a hawk flew over it would always go for the Silkie and leave the rest alone . He told me to be sure get some as emergency incubators and to protect my other chickens as soon I got set up .

I think Silkies are beautiful birds. They are so tame, soft and cuddly and make great mommies. There is nothing ugly about them.
