Do you turn your horses out in the rain?

If you do blanket your turned-out horse, don't just check his chest/shoulders to see if he is dry. If the blanket is really waterproof (most aren't meant for hours in the rain) then the moisture can rise as steam and he can be dry everywhere but along his back, where the blanket will hold the moisture in. So put your hand all the way up to his spine to check it.

Same with mine. Leave that stall door open and there will be more poop in there than on the 20 acers. Why do they poop in the stall then go stand ont in the freezing rain

The important thing isn't so much the wet it is the wind. If it is raining and no wind then no problems. If it is raining and there is wind coming in hard all they need is somewhere to get in out of it. Some still choose to stand in it, don't know why, but as far as I am concerned, a shelter with a roof is what you need. Horses can regulate their body temp better without a blanket.
